By fostering a workforce proficient in AI, we can drive economic growth, increase productivity, and inspire innovation
throughout Middle Georgia. I am thrilled to share resources, such as Microsoft's AI fluency programs. The goal is to offer free,
online courses that residents can take at their leisure. These asynchronous online courses range in topics from basic
understanding of Generative AI to understanding how to build AI-based cloud solutions.
We also collaborate with organizations like the Macon Middle Georgia Black Pages, Macon Black Tech, and Wesleyan College to
engage, expose, and provide AI education and training resources. The MAICON Collective’s AI and the Art of Possibility event on
January 31 and February 1, 2025, is a testament of the interest and commitment to introducing AI and building knowledge in a
fun, culturally relevant way.
Paulana Hall: "To build upon what Erika said, by providing comprehensive AI education and practical access, we can watch the
transformative impact of AI unfold within our communities. We are no longer waiting for information to trickle down to
communities, people can search for it on their own. They can read the articles, get help understanding complex issues, or
design their own learning path."
Kevin Moore: "It is imperative that we dedicate ourselves to the upskilling and cross-skilling of residents, ensuring they are wellversed in AI technologies. This is vital to assembling a workforce capable of seamlessly integrating AI into their various roles,
thereby driving innovation within our communities. By fostering AI fluency, we can enhance local employment opportunities,
stimulate economic growth, and inspire a culture of continuous learning and adaptation. With the support of comprehensive
education and practical training programs, the residents of Macon and Middle Georgia will not only benefit from these
advancements but also contribute significantly to the region's technological evolution."
Looking to the future
AI will play an integral role in shaping the evolution of cities like Macon. By embracing these cutting-edge technologies, we can
foster a community that is more connected and innovative. The possibilities are endless, and with the right approach, AI will not
only enhance productivity but also empower residents, break down barriers, and create opportunities for all.
Erika Smith: “As we look ahead, integrating AI into our daily lives presents both challenges and opportunities. By prioritizing
comprehensive education and training programs, we are laying the groundwork for a future where AI is not just a tool, but an
integral part of our community's fabric. Let us continue to collaborate, innovate, and educate, ensuring that every resident of
Middle Georgia can harness the power of AI to enhance their lives and contribute to a thriving, fair society."
Paulana Hall: "In conclusion, I am confident that our unified efforts to enhance AI literacy across Middle Georgia will bring
about significant positive changes. By ensuring that AI is both accessible and meaningful, we are not just enabling individuals,
but also cultivating an environment of ongoing education and creativity. Together, we can witness the profound impact these
technologies will have on our community, making AI a vital and user-friendly tool for everyone."
Kevin Moore: "As we move forward, our dedication to upskilling and cross-skilling residents in AI technologies remains
unwavering. This commitment is crucial to building a workforce that can seamlessly integrate AI into their roles, driving
