To Our Bibb County Friends and Family,
In this third year as a part of the Macon-Bibb community, I continue
to be overjoyed with the task before me and our district to feed into
the lives of our students. We have already experienced success in
many ways and truly continue to morph into what it means to be
#Built4Bibb. Our deserving students count on us daily to love, care
for, and nurture them so they can become the citizens we dream
about. I count myself blessed to be called here to serve.
We are working better together and seeing the fruits of our labor. This
is my family away from family, and our investments into this district
will continue to be our focus. As we conclude the current Education
Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST), it brings me
boundless joy to see new buildings, technology upgrades, and
increased safety measures put in place to improve the quality of
everything we do. This additional funding continues to position us to account for all needs – ones that
could not have been fulfilled with our General Fund budget. In this age of inflation, we have been able to
maintain the quality of our resources and work. We look forward to complementing this with the most
talented human beings in our schools and throughout our district by offering competitive salaries. Bibb
County is a beautiful place to work, and we want to remain at the table as a meaningful option for the best
and brightest.
We remain forever grateful to the taxpayers and citizens for supporting our district. Our graduation is on
the rise yet again, along with a remarkable story of growth and gains we have been able to tell based on
our most recent data. I am serious about this entire community working together for the sake of our city
and its students. Years from now, we will thank ourselves for the efforts of the Macon-Middle Georgia
Black Pages & Resource Guide and the challenging work we put in to function as an impenetrable unit.
Macon’s greatness continues to shine, and we see our role in this new day being a bright one. I hope and
pray that we continue to put in the work to realize the potential that rests in our hands and hearts.
The call remains the same as we enlist the support and efforts of this entire city in support of our students.
Our partnership is key, and I want to thank you in advance for all your support as we unleash the genius
in every student. One day, each of them will face the decision of becoming meaningfully employed,
enrolled in the college/university system, enlisted in the military, and/or gainfully engaged in
entrepreneurship. Whatever their decision, thank you for joining us each day to make their options viable,
visible, and valuable.
Sincerely,
Dan A. Sims, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
