Dr. Ruth Swint
February 4, 1930 - February 11, 2025
Born on February 4, 1930, in Americus, Georgia, to the late Juanita Cherry and Issiah Cherry, Ruth’s
life was marked by resilience and faith. She received her education in the Bibb County school system,
graduating from Hudson Norman High School. Upon graduation. she journeyed to St. Petersburg,
Florida before returning to Macon and finally residing in Warner Robins, Georgia where she built a
life rich in purpose, love, and service. At a young age, Ruth accepted Christ into her life, and her faith
became the foundation of everything she did. For over 75 years, she was a devoted member of Tremont
Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Trustee, Choir member, Cooperative
Toilers, Mission and Kitchen Ministry. Her unwavering belief in God guided her through every challenge,
every triumph, and every chapter of her incredible story.
Ruth was blessed to share her life with her beloved husband, the late Lenton Swint Sr. Together, they
built a home filled with love, faith, and a deep commitment to family, their marriage was a testament to
partnership, perseverance, and unwavering devotion. Though he passed before her, his love remained
constant in her heart, and now they are reunited in eternal peace. Following her husband’s passing
Ruth displayed unmatched resilience and determination, stepping forward to take on a new challenge
as the CEO of M&S Cleaning Service alongside her bonus son Lenton Swint, Jr. She approached this
venture with the same grace, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit that she carried in every aspect of
her life.
Dr. Swint was a woman of great vision, bold ambition, and boundless love. She wasn’t just a master
cosmetologist, she was an artist, mentor, and entrepreneur who built Ruth’s Hair Fashions, a place
where women felt beautiful, confident, and empowered.
Her leadership extended far beyond her salon walls. As State President of the Georgia State Beauty
Culturists’ League (GSBCL) for 48 years, she uplifted and inspired generations of professionals. She held
esteemed positions within the National Beauty Culturists’’ League Inc., always striving to elevate others
and open doors for those who followed in her footsteps. She was also a member of Theta Nu Sigma
Sorority. Dr. Swine didn’t just build businesses— she built people. She helped shape young minds and
aspiring entrepreneurs through organizations like the Georgia Association of Minority Entrepreneurs
(GAME) and the Black Youth and Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Georgia. She was a
trailblazer, a mentor, and a fierce advocate for education and self-sufficiency— and she did it all with
style grace, and an undeniable presence.
But beyond her many accomplishments, Mama Ruth’s greatest gift was her love— a love that knew no
boundaries, a love that stretched across generations, a love that made everyone feel like family. She
opened her heart and home to not just her own children and grandchildren but to countless bonus
daughters, sons, and grandchildren who found in her a mother’s warmth, a grandmother’s wisdom,
and a friend’s unwavering support.
Mama Ruth was never one to be left behind. Her spirit of adventure was contagious, and she embraced
every journey—just as she embraced life itself with open arms and an open heart.
